Creating Colour Pallet in Word 2016 for Mac


A client informed me that you can no longer change colour sets in word and was frustrated they could not use their corporate colours, technically that is correct you no longer can customize colours in word, however corporate colours can be used.

Once I explain how to do it you will see that you save time, in Microsoft office 2016 for mac we edit our color pallet in one central place this can then be used across word PowerPoint and excel so no more changing in multiple places and no inconsistent color sets the application chose to make these changes is PowerPoint.

Now we have established that PowerPoint is the central tool for changing the color pallet I will now guide you through the steps to setting up corporate color schemes

Part 1 takes place in PowerPoint Part Two in word

Part 1 Setting colours in PowerPoint


1.       Launch PowerPoint 2016 on your Mac.

2.       switch to the design tab.

3.       you have two distinct panels the left themes the right variants hover over the variants panel.

4.       click on the downward pointing arrow to expand the box.

5.       select colors

6.       From the bottom of the fly out menu select customize colours.

7.       change the colours to represent your corporate colour scheme.

8.       Now give it a name and save.

9.       Set the Font set and background (used in PowerPoint only).

10.   On the design tab first block themes, hover and click the downward arrow to expand section.

11.   Click save current theme name it

Part 2 setting up colors in Word


1.       launch word 2016 on your Mac.

2.       On the design tab select Them and choose your custom theme

3.       if required select a different font set

4.       Click on Set as default to make this the theme set that will open when you create a new document.

Setting as a Document Template


5.       Ignore the step above.

6.       instead click theme, save current theme.

7.       Select File Menu – Save as Template.

Checking your Results


8.       Select File Menu – open from template – Select your template.

9.       check it out and your all done.
