Hints - Microsoft Excel- Returning a Worksheet Name

Need to put your worksheet name into a cell?

There is am Excel function CELL.

Excel will return the workbook sheet name  and full path.

=CELL("filename")

Note the workbook must be saved

Result sample A

c:\My Documents\cat.xls]sheet1

Result sample B

This will work for any worksheet name up to 50 characters in length. (If you routinely use different lengths, simply change the value in the formula.) Continuing the earlier example, Excel would return Sheet1 as the result.
