Microsoft Access Field Properties – Default Value

Default Value

Field properties are where you fine tune the table.  The data type provides general information about the type of data that a field is going to contain and in the properties is where you define it more exactly.

The default value is the value that is entered automatically when the record is created.  You do not have a default value in the primary field (as you do not want duplicates). The default value can be over typed.

You might want to set the current date as the default value on orders or the 1 on the quantities ordered.
